Under general supervision, the Clinical Instructor is responsible for working directly with Ogeechee Technical College’s Surgical Technology Program Director to ensure students are scheduled for appropriate clinical rotations; for working directly with the designated clinical sites to schedule students for surgical experiences; and for supervising students in clinical settings. The Clinical Instructor is responsible for preparing and providing instructional activities for students to gain the knowledge and skills required to perform in surgical rotations and will evaluate students' progress in achieving required competencies and certifications. The Clinical Instructor will assist the Surgical Technology Program Director in handling administrative responsibilities related to teaching courses, data collection; reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the College; and recruiting, retaining, and preparing students for employment. The Clinical Instructor will participate in staff development training; ensure safety and security requirements in the classroom, lab, and clinical setting; and maintain an organized supply of instructional materials and program equipment.
Candidate must have a minimum of a diploma from an accredited Surgical Technology program. Candidate must be a certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or willing to gain the certification. Candidate must hold Basic Life Support certification. Candidate’s work experience must include one year operating room practice within the past three years.
Associate degree from an accredited health care program. Supervision experience in the clinical setting and/or an educational setting. Candidate may have experience as a Surgical Technology instructor within the past two years. Participation in professional/occupational organizations.
