Workers’ compensation provides benefits to employees who sustain a workplace injury by accident or illness (subject to limitations of O.C.G.A 34-9-1(4)) which arises out of and in the course of employment. If you sustain an injury or illness, contact your supervisor immediately. Human Resources also must be notified by calling (912) 871-1801.
If the injury is a medical emergency, proceed to the nearest emergency room. If no treatment is needed, contact Human Resources. If non-emergency medical treatment is needed, contact Human Resources.
Ogeechee Technical College utilizes Amerisys, Inc. as its workers’ compensation/managed care organization (MCO). Human Resources will assist the employee in filing a claim and after a claim has been filed, employees can call a case manager by dialing 800-900-1582 for assistance in selecting a physician, scheduling an appointment, and obtaining follow-up care.
Most importantly, employees are not free to seek medical treatment from their personal physician. They must access the network through Amerisys. Seeking treatment without the assistance of the case manager results in unauthorized care, and the employee may be held accountable for all medical expenses.
