Ogeechee Tech Hosts Franklin Covey Leadership Presentation

The Economic Development division of Ogeechee Technical College hosted a Franklin Covey leadership conference on the OTC campus on November 1.  The one-day event was directed at providing vital information on organizational leadership for the attendees, which totaled 84 individuals from a variety of companies and organizations in Bulloch, Evans, and Screven Counties.  Dr. Nancy M. Moore was the presenter for the conference.  A senior consultant and trainer for Franklin Covey, Dr. Moore is in her fourteenth year with the company, and has worked with a great variety of clients in both the public and private sectors.  With a strong background in education leadership, Dr. Moore has served as superintendent of schools, school principal, curriculum consultant, university adjunct professor, director of special education and classroom teacher.  She is the recipient of many honors, including being recognized by the President of the United States in a White House ceremony as principal of one of the nation’s exemplary schools.  She is a prolific author of leadership articles for professional journals and her book, Everything Under the Sun for Teaching was published by McGraw-Hill.

The presentation at Ogeechee Tech focused on an innovative “mind-set, skill-set, and tool-set” in developing leaders who can unleash the talent and capability of their teams against the organization’s highest priorities.  Attendees were treated to a high-energy, interactive presentation in which Dr. Moore illustrated her points to help attendees achieve a greater level of leadership skill.  “We were very fortunate to have someone of Dr. Moore’s caliber here for this presentation,” stated Rusty Denning, Director of Business/Industry & Community Services at Ogeechee Tech.  “We would especially like to thank Steve Miller, Director of Human Resources at OTC, for helping facilitate Dr. Moore’s visit,” Denning said.  Miller, who introduced Dr. Moore to the group, is her nephew.
