Ogeechee Tech Hosts
Joseph’s Home for Boys

Residents from Joseph’s Home for Boys were treated to lunch and a watermelon cutting on Friday, July 27, 2007 at Ogeechee Technical College.  A number of Ogeechee Tech faculty, staff, and administration joined to provide a party for the Joseph’s boys under the shade of the Ogeechee Tech ‘pecan orchard’ at the front of the OTC campus.  The meal of sandwiches, chips, sweets, and lemonade was followed by fresh local watermelons served up by OTC employees.

In addition to the meal, each Joseph’s Home resident was provided a canvas book bag stuffed with a t-shirt, games, and school supplies.  A number of the residents of the boy’s home were not able to attend because they were busy with summer jobs, but food and a gift bag were sent home for each.

“I think this was as much fun for us as it was for the boys,” exclaimed Dr. Dawn Cartee, OTC President.  “These are all such special boys.  We just thought it would be nice to give them a little treat before they start back to school—but I think we were ones who were treated,” Dr. Cartee concluded.

Smiles were the order of the day as boys from Joseph’s Home
were treated to lunch and a watermelon social at Ogeechee Tech on Friday.

The boys spent time chatting with Ogeechee Tech employees, discussing school plans and talking about favorite, or not so favorite, subjects.  Boys range in age from 8 to 18 and are students at a variety of local schools.  In addition to their gift bags and food left from the lunch, the group left with a supply of watermelons to enjoy later at the Boy’s Home.
