Medical Assisting Students Volunteer OTC’s Medical Assisting classes visited the Statesboro Regional Library on Wednesday, April 11 to read for RIF (Reading is Fundamental). Three times each year, all Pre-K through second grade students in Bulloch County receive a free book through the RIF program. The last distribution includes a field trip to the Library where the students are treated to a puppet show and the final book distribution. Students are allowed to choose a book and have it read to them by volunteers. Elaine McDuffie, the RIF coordinator stated that for the first time on Wednesday, there were enough volunteers for every child to have their book read. The MA students thoroughly enjoyed the time spent at the library. It is also good for the children to be able to see healthcare workers in a “non-threatening” environment. Contact: Barry Turner |
