Pets Parade at OTC
The Vet Tech Club at Ogeechee Technical College recently hosted a fundraiser in support of the Veterinary Technology program by conducting a “Vet Techs and Their Pets” pageant in the OTC auditorium. A variety of dogs in costume were paraded before admiring fans and judges to generate “votes” in the way of dollars placed in plastic jugs at the front of the auditorium. Winners and runners-up in several categories were selected. Each pet had their owner accompany them with matching themed costumes.

Honorary Vet Tech for the day was OTC president Dr. Dawn Cartee who paraded her Great Dane Buddy through the crowd. “This is a great way to raise awareness about our program and to make some money in support of our Vet Tech program and the rescue work we do,” stated Veterinary Technology instructor Billie Walker. Dr. Janice Grumbles, Vet Tech program director explained, “We want this to be an annual event that becomes more popular each year. This is a fun way to let people know what we do, what our needs are, and how they can help.”
The event was a success and the enthusiasm of the participants and audience was apparent. The Vet Tech program at OTC provides support for locally rescued pets with examinations and other procedures.
