Screven County Middle School Students Visit Ogeechee Tech Ogeechee Technical College recently hosted 207 middle school students from the Screven County school system for tours and testing. The students visited in separate groups over three days, and were accompanied by instructors and administrators on each visit. The students were given tours of a variety of programs offered by Ogeechee Tech, and were able to see demonstrations of various hands-on skills that many of the programs utilize in training OTC students, including medical sonograms, and radiographs (x-rays). Students participated in a Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) to measure math, reading, and language skills, and also took part in a CareerScope Interest and Aptitude Inventory, to help determine interest levels for various career options. Jeanne Anne Marsh, who is Stay in School Project Coordinator at Ogeechee Tech stated, “We love having middle school students on our campus. These students are actually reaching the age when they need to start considering post-secondary education and career options in order to more effectively plan their high school curriculum paths.” Ogeechee Tech offers the same service to all middle schools in the Bulloch, Evans, and Screven County service areas.
