Ogeechee Tech Provides Party for Screven Foster Children
Ogeechee Technical College recently hosted a Christmas party for foster children and parents in Screven County at the College’s Screven Center. Refreshments and gifts were provided for each child, as well as a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and their elves. The children also received a photograph of their visit with Santa. The event was sponsored by the Ogeechee Tech Student Council, was coordinated by Student Affairs, and was supported and attended by several members of the College’s faculty, staff, and administration. “We felt that this was an appropriate way to celebrate the holiday season,” stated Charlene Lamar, Vice President for Student Affairs at Ogeechee Tech. “These children face so many challenges in their personal lives. We just wanted to bring some fun to their day while giving them a gift and some recognition,” concluded Lamar.
