Ogeechee Tech Set to Assist When Statesboro and Bulloch County play host to the Georgia Special Olympics Fall Games in 2008, Ogeechee Technical College will be a major player in providing assistance for the event. With more than 1500 athletes and coaches, and many more family, friends, and other supporters crowding into Statesboro, an ‘all hands on deck’ mentality will prevail among many organizations within the Statesboro community. Ogeechee Tech is set to be a major sponsor of the games, and will provide numerous volunteers to assist with the various events leading up to, and during, the Fall games.
The 2008 Fall Games, which will be held October 3 through 5, will demand as many as 1000 volunteers to help the event succeed. “We expect the employees and students of Ogeechee Tech to do their part in supporting the event—not because I want them to, but because that is the kind of people they all are—those who want to help others,” Dr. Cartee concluded. Statesboro has been awarded the games in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
