Fred Hill Named to Ogeechee
In announcing the appointment, Cartee stated, “Fred is a great addition to our local board. With Fred’s involvement in local industry and community activities, he brings a valuable perspective to the board. I expect his input to be vital to our continued progress at the College.” Hill confirmed his interest in the advancement of Ogeechee Technical College, by stating, “Ogeechee Tech is such a valuable part of our local community. I know the College makes a great impact on many people’s lives, and I am honored to be in a position to influence its continued growth and success.” Hill was sworn in for his new position by Superior Court Judge Gates Peed at a regular Board meeting on the Ogeechee Tech campus. Ogeechee Tech’s local board of directors is comprised of members who were nominated for their positions by local industry and education officials. Each member was selected and approved by the Board of the Technical College System of Georgia. The Board sets policies for the College consistent with policies established by the State Board. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving goals and objectives, short- and long-range plans, facilities expansion, program additions and changes, and the annual budget before submission for approval by the State Board. Hill joins other Board members, Dr. Dale Grant, who is the chair, Roger Moore, who is vice-chair, Rachel Edwards, Billy Hickman, Emelyn T. Hunter, Rosalind Ivey, Ray L. McKinney, Jr., and Hoke S.
