Practical Nursing Students
Practical Nursing students from Ogeechee Technical College celebrated the completion of their program of study with a pinning ceremony on March 23. Assembling in the Kennedy auditorium at the College, students welcomed family members and friends as the class reviewed their accomplishments through their time in the Nursing program. Students took part in presentations to audience, before being individually recognized by Dean Teresa Allen. Amanda Fowler, L.P.N. was the special speaker for the event. Students were pinned by program instructors Chyrle Collins, Cheryl Ard, and Jackie Howard. A candle was lit as each student was pinned, and the program concluded with the students reciting the Nightingale pledge which says, in part, “I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standards of my profession…” Family and friends joined the students at a reception in the Kennedy lobby following the ceremony. In commenting on the students time in the program, Dean Teresa Allen stated, “This journey has not been easy, and it shouldn’t be. Your profession is an important one, and your patients need to know that you are serious enough to work through a difficult program to earn the right to care for them.” Contact: Barry Turner |
