Planters EMC Makes Contribution
Randy Hill, of Planters Electric Membership Corporation (EMC), recently presented a check to Dorothy Glisson of the Ogeechee Tech Foundation Board of Trustees, and Dr. Ben Thompson, Vice President for Economic Development at Ogeechee Technical College. The check represents proceeds from a grant which is funded through the Planters EMC Operation Round- Up program. The program is made possible by Planters EMC members who elect to round-up their electric bills to the nearest dollar. The grant will fund three scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year and to be eligible for these scholarships, students must be enrolled full-time in a degree or diploma program at OTC, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, and reside in Screven County. This is the second year in a row that the Ogeechee Tech Foundation has received this grant from Planters. Beth Mathews, OTC Vice President for Institutional Advancement, who coordinates the efforts of the Ogeechee Tech Foundation, stated, “It is through the generosity oaf people like Planters EMC and their customers that we are able to help our students meet the financial challenges that they may face. We are very grteful for Planters’ commitment to supporting our students from Screven County.” To learn more about supporting the Ogeechee Tech Foundation, contact Beth Mathews or Kathleen Kosmoski at (800) 646-1316.
