OTC's Robinson Participates in
Ogeechee Technical College Administrative Office Technology instructor, LeAnne Robinson, recently participated in a Junior Achievement event at Southeast Bulloch High School. Junior Achievement is a partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers — all working together to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential. On March 9, 10, and 11 many volunteers from the community took part in “JA Careers with a Purpose” which introduced students to the importance of seeking careers that help them realize their “life potential and noble purpose”. The program demonstrated the importance of positive values, life maxims, and ethical decision-making within the context of career and life decisions. Students were required to take part in seven volunteer-led sessions. Robinson led two sessions. The first was entitled “Your Decisions” in which an exercise was given to help students make decisions as if they were employed in a real-world, high-growth, and high-demand industry. Additionally, Robinson conducted a session called “Your Code of Conduct,” which involved a discussion of ethics in the workplace. The topics also included a discussion on how personal ethics and business ethics intersect. “This was a great opportunity for me! I had the chance to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy,” stated Robinson. Junior Achievement has a goal of empowering students with skills which allow them to create a better tomorrow for themselves and their communities. Robinson is a long-time volunteer with the community youth related activities, including organizations such as Boys & Girls Club, CHOICES, and Youth Leadership Bulloch. Contact: Barry Turner |
